It all started when I was just five years old...
On a summer trip to Plymouth, Massachusetts, my family stopped to see the historic Plymouth Rock. For my birthday, my parents had gifted me a small plastic camera, which was attached to my wrist with an elastic strap. Eager to try it out, I snapped a photo of a seagull mid-flight. My parents chuckled, certain I couldn’t have caught the bird in action. I was just as certain that I had. When the film was developed, there it was: my seagull, perfectly centered and as clear as that toy camera could manage. They still say that’s when they knew I’d be a photographer someday.
At 20 years of age, I earned a degree in Graphic Design and spent the next 13 years honing my skills in visual storytelling while working for a large-circulation magazine. My expertise in Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design programs gave me a strong creative foundation, but it wasn’t until I enrolled in a summer photography course that I discovered my true calling behind the lens.
Passionate about nature and landscapes, I’ve been fortunate to travel and capture beauty in many places—none more magical to me than the Hawaiian Islands. The serenity and color of Hawaiian landscapes deeply inspire my work.
In 2015, I opened my private portrait studio in Richmond, Rhode Island, where I specialize in photographing children, pets, and families. Portrait photography allows me to combine my creativity with my natural rapport with children, creating timeless, heartfelt images. In 2018, I expanded into real estate photography, falling in love with New England’s diverse and historic architecture.
My work has been recognized nationally — my piece Morning Glory was a finalist in Nikon’s Best of College Photography 2014, and Banyan Heaven received the same honor in Nikon’s Best of Photography 2014. In 2017, I was honored to receive an Artist Grant from the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (Mass MoCA), where I also completed several professional development courses that helped elevate both my technique and my business.
Now, as Caitlin Creations celebrates 10 years in business, I remain as passionate as ever about capturing moments that matter — whether it’s a candid smile, a loving family embrace, or the warm glow of a New England sunset. I invite you to come and visit my studio or join me on location for a session that tells your story through my lens.
